Residents of Clarence-Creek are advised to be aware of a recent bear sighting in the area.
If you encounter a bear:
- Do not turn and run.
- Back away slowly while keeping the bear in sight.
- Remain calm, make yourself appear larger, make loud noises, and throw rocks if needed.
In many cases, bears are simply passing through and will move on if there is no available food source.
Prevent bear visits by:
- Storing garbage in airtight containers.
- Avoiding leaving food outdoors.
