Operations Services Supervisor – Public Works

Full-Time Position 40 hours/week

Position summary

Reporting to the Division Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for all operational activities of the division. He/she plans all tasks and sees to the daily operation. He/she designs, develops, and reviews processes, methods, procedures and recommends measures to improve and optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of the activities for which he/she is responsible and ensures that they are implemented and respected. Develops and maintains partnerships with various stakeholders in other municipal departments. He/she supports the Manager in the annual preparation of budgets by evaluating human and material resource needs and submitting proposals for changes.
He/she supervises the employees assigned to his or her division, including providing leadership, motivation, setting performance standards, monitoring qualitative and quantitative performance, attendance, punctuality, and discipline, and recommending actions to be taken to ensure performance. He/she ensures the training of the personnel and that they respect the rules and standards of health and safety at work.

Requirements

  • 12th grade diploma.
  • Completion of the following courses is an asset.
    • Certified Road Supervisor (CRS) o Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)
    • Specific course related to road maintenance and construction
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience at the employee management level (in a unionized environment is an asset) or equivalent.
  • Autonomous.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Attention to detail, knowledge of procedures in the field of employee management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (English and French) to provide clear and accurate information to employees, citizens, and consultants.
  • Work in the office and outdoors, possibly exposed to the inclement weather.
  • Recognized for his/her customer service skills, interpersonal skills, sense of partnership and team spirit.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards to be respected in the workplace (wearing of PPE, OHS procedures) as well as the various government laws governing health and safety in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of the industry, including professional standards, legislation, and government guidelines.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Salary

Class 3 (40 hours) - of the non-unionized salary scale: $73,625.14 to $92,032.00/year

Scheduler

Full-Time Position 35 hours/week

Position summary

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Scheduler contributes to the planning, evaluation, measurement, and organization of work. The person will support the Operations Services managers in areas such as operations analysis and management methods or processes to suggest, plan and implement improvements aimed at increasing the quality of activities/programs and ensuring quality services to citizens. The Scheduler must take responsibility for the performance indicators, analyze and disseminate them to the staff. The person receives and processes all work requests related to the department's activities; distributes tasks according to the human and financial resources available, in compliance with health and safety, environmental and corporate standards.

Requirements

  • Industrial Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent

Required experience:

(3) years’ experience in a similar role. 

     Skills and competencies required:
