City of Clarence-Rockland firefighters will be visiting homes in the municipality to ensure that every residence is protected by smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every floor. The campaign will begin on October 1 and run through November.

"It's vital for a municipality to ensure that its residents feel safe in their homes. Initiatives such as Get out Alive are a step in the right direction. I would like to thank the City of Clarence-Rockland Fire Department for their commitment to the safety of the citizens of our municipality," said Mayor Mario Zanth.

During the campaign, well-identified Fire Department firefighters, in uniform and with department vehicles, will visit homes in the municipality and check that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are working properly. If no one is home, they'll leave a door hanger containing a questionnaire and important information.

"Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are essential safety devices. They detect the presence of smoke and provide precious seconds for occupants to escape. Everyone should have them in their homes," said Mario Villeneuve, Director of Protection and Fire Chief for the City of Clarence-Rockland.
