School Crossing Guard (1 position)

Position Summary 

Under the supervision of the Manager of Enforcement and Construction, the incumbent is responsible for safely escorting pedestrians, as defined in the Highway Traffic Act, at designated school crossings. This includes monitoring traffic flow, asserting the right of way, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. 

This position plays a vital role in promoting pedestrian safety and supporting the community by ensuring that children and other pedestrians can cross safely in high-traffic areas. 

Requirements 

  • Ability to make accurate decisions while keeping children’s safety in mind at all times. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and in a friendly manner with children and the general public. 
  • Bilingualism (spoken French and English). 
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strict adherence to established safety measures. 
  • Ability to work outdoors, sometimes exposed to various weather conditions. 
  • Availability for split shifts and ability to provide own transportation. 

Salary 

According to the part-time employee pay scale: $17.73 to $22,24 per hour.
