Business owners operating in the City of Clarence-Rockland must obtain a licence from the municipality authorizing them to operate the business.
The purpose of municipal business licensing is to protect the health and safety of the public who use the service or products. It also helps ensure consistency for business owners and customers.

| Auctioneer | A person selling, renting or putting up for sale, goods, wares, merchandise or effects or livestock by public auction. |
| Automotive Services | A business that offers automobile services, including an automobile body shop, sales garage, gas bar, service station, storage, wrecking yard and car washes whether automatic or not. |
| Chip Wagon | A vehicle from which food, refreshments or confections are sold, either temporarily mounted on blocks or supported by conventional wheel, tire or axle system. |
| Entertainment Services | A business that provides or offers leisure activities in which the customer or customer acts as an observer and does not actively participate. |
| Food/Beverage Service | A business that offers food or beverages intended for human consumption. |
| General | Any trade, occupation and sale or hire of goods and services for profit wholly or partly carried on within the municipality. A business that engages in business activities within the City of Clarence-Rockland's jurisdiction. |

| Itinerant Vendor | A person who goes from place to place or to a particular place with goods for sale by retail, or who carries and displays samples, patterns or specimens of any goods for the purpose of sale or hire that are delivered in the City afterwards, but does not include a person who sells to wholesale or retail dealers in similar goods. |

| Licence A: A vendor selling ice-cream, frozen milk products and beverages only from the streets or on private property in the City, from a pedal-powered vehicle. |
Licence B: A person selling food products that are prepared and cooked elsewhere than in the motor vehicle, from a motor vehicle on private property. | |

Licence D: A person selling food products from a refreshment vehicle as set out in the licence categories who vends for or at a specific event. | |

| Transient Trader - Special Event | A business event organized by a sponsoring organization within the City, where one or more transient traders are engaged in business activity, who on a temporary basis, sells or offers for sale, goods, wares, merchandise, items or service at an indoor or outdoor location or premises. |
