The City of Clarence-Rockland requires all dog owners to obtain a dog licence within 7 days of getting a new dog. They must be renewed every year by March 31. 

When you renew, you’ll need to pay the licence fee listed in the City’s current fee schedule. 

Current Fees:

  • Before March 31, 2026: $31 (per dog)
  • After April 1, 2026: $55 (per dog)

Once registered, your dog will get a tag with a unique number, and this tag must stay on your dog at all times (except when the dog is legally being used for hunting). Tags can’t be shared between dogs, and replacement tags are available if one is lost. 

Households in residential areas can have up to three dogs, but medical service dogs are exempt from licence fees and don’t count toward the limit.
