To obtain a lottery licence within the City of Clarence-Rockland, the application submitted by your organization must meet the following charitable objectives:

  • The relief of poverty;
  • The advancement of education and/or religion;
  • Any other charitable purpose beneficial to the community.

Criteria

In order for the City of Clarence-Rockland to be able to review an application, the organization must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have existed for at least one (1) year;
  • Must have a place of business in Ontario and demonstrate that it is using these funds to achieve goals or objectives that are for the benefit of Ontario and its residents.

Organizations submitting an application must provide:

The application for a lottery licence must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the scheduled event.

Licensing Fee

The lottery licence fee is 3% of the total prize value. A minimum of $30 is required for licences under $1,200.

An administration fee, as prescribed in the User Fee By-Law, will be charged for the following requests:

  • Any request for extension of a license;
  • Any request to amend a licence;
  • Any letter or application for a lottery licence forwarded to the Province by the municipality for a charitable organization;
  • Any lottery report forwarded to the Province by the municipality on behalf of a charitable organization.

These guidelines are in addition to federal and provincial lottery legislation and are subject to change without notice.

Provincial licences

Any application for a bingo licence where the total value of prizes awarded in a session is greater than $5,500 and any other licence where the total value of prizes awarded is greater than $50,000 requires a provincial licence and must be sent to:
