Smart Cities

On May 1, 2018, the City of Clarence-Rockland's Smart Cities challenge submission was confirmed eligilible by Infrastructure Canada. Our submission will now move to the evaluation by the jury. Our challenge statement is as follows:

Clarence-Rockland will leverage smart city sensors and geospatial analysis to drive change and create a complete active transportation network allowing 100% of residents to access key community destinations within walking and bicycling distance, accelerating our progress towards becoming a connected, healthy city that cultivates a sense of place and possibility.

The Challenge:

The Government of Canada (Infrastructure Canada) has issued a Smart Cities Challenge to municipalities to adopt a Smart Cities approach to improve the lives of residents through innovation, data and connected technology. The Ministry will be receiving applications for meaningful, measurable projects that will address the most pressing community needs.

There are four prizes ranging from $5 million to $50 million for winning submissions across Canada.

Community Consultation:

In order to respond to the objectives of this challenge, we need to know what are the most pressing issues facing our residents and stakeholders on a daily basis. Based on this feedback, the City will be in a position to make a formal submission under this program.
