CLARENCE-ROCKLAND, October 5, 2021 – The YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region, in partnership with the City of Clarence-Rockland, is pleased to announce that the Clarence-Rockland Y will be reopening to serve the community on November 1, 2021.

The health, fitness and aquatics centre is expected to be open for all ages. A selection of group fitness classes and swim programs will be available, as well as access to the conditioning floor. There will also be limited child and youth programs. Programs and services will be expanded sequentially. Select registered programs will also be available for a shortened season (running November to December). Covid-19 sanitary protocols will be in place and shared directly with clients.

“We are thrilled to once again provide families in the Clarence-Rockland area with vital opportunities for health, fitness, recreation, and aquatic programs,” says Bob Gallagher, President and CEO with the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region. “Our Y has become truly integrated in the fabric of this vibrant community, and in partnership with the City, we are ready and excited to safely welcome our members and visitors back.”

“I am proud that aquatic and fitness programming will resume at the Y in November. Our residents are looking forward to their Y after several months at home due to the pandemic. Physical activity is very important for good mental health, and we are happy that residents will once again have access to the equipment and programs that have been dear to them for several years,” declared Mario Zanth, Mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland.

Since 2008, the YMCA-YWCA of the National Capital Region and the City of Clarence-Rockland have been partners in providing the residents of the community with services and programs that assist them in leading active and healthier lives. Together, the City and the Y have created an inclusive gathering space and brought important programs and services to the community.
