SOUTH NATION WATERSHED – South Nation Conservation (SNC) is downgrading the watershed statement “Flood Watch” issued on April 6th  to “Flood Outlook” as part of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Program. The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information regarding th e forecasted weather and the potential of flooding throughout the SNC jurisdiction .

Higher than normal water levels are still present throughout most of the SNC watershed and some nuisance flooding may still be observed in low lying areas.   However, water levels throughout the SNC watershed are receding and returning to normal.  Environment Canada is forecasting sunny weather for the remainder of the week with a 40% chance of showers on the weekend. Daytime highs are forecasted to be approximately 10°C.

Residents however are still advised to stay away from rivers as water levels are still high and river banks are slippery.  Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to their children.

SNC cautions residents to be aware of the potential for flooding, fast flowing water and the associated risks.

SNC staff will continue to monitor the water levels and weather forecasts as part of the

Flood Forecasting and W arning program and daily updates during this event.

SNC encourages the public to visit our webpage at  www.n at ion .on .caand to also provide feedback with respect to changes in water related conditions in their local areas (i.e. high water elevations, road inundation, ice break-up, etc.).
