CLARENCE-ROCKLAND – November 3rd, 2017—The City of Clarence-Rockland and the Société historique Saint-Pascal-Baylon is proud to present its Heritage Tour.
The Clarence-Rockland Heritage Tour will offer visitors the opportunity to discover the City’s history as well as its founders with a brochure and historical panels installed in front of existing structures. This tour will also be interactive with a GPS app and a website built by BaladoDécouverte. Once finalized, the tour will count 40 panels in every community of the municipality. Brochures, which will be available soon, will propose four different tours that will guide tourists in each of our communities. These brochures will be available here at City Hall as well as the Clarence-Rockland Museum.
The buildings chosen were selected based on their architectural and historical values as well as the potential to become a tourist attraction based on the role it played in the community development. This project was made possible by a grant from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and managed by the Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario.
“Our communities were built by strong and proud people. This Heritage Tour is a great way to honour their work. The City of Clarence-Rockland also recognizes the attraction heritage buildings has on tourists and I congratulate the Société historique Saint-Pascal Baylon and the Clarence-Rockland Heritage Advisory Committee for this initiative,” mentioned Mayor Guy Desjardins.
